• Polished headstones are smooth and shiny as glass and require regular careful maintenance. The majority of churchyards don’t allow them because they have a reflective surface.

• Part Polished headstones are glossy on the face of the headstone and the top of the base.

• Honed finishes are smooth and non-reflective which is achieved by partially removing polish with dust.

• A Pitched finishis much rougher thanother finishes. They are created with a bolster and hammer. Headstones with pitched finishesare very rustic.

• Sawed is a semi-smooth finish after being cut with a wire or diamond saw.
